Morgan Stanley Internship Experience

I was Summer Technology Intern at Morgan Stanley 🏢 this summer

Our College exams got over a little late and I joined 2 weeks later then other college summer interns. Most of them being from prestigious indian colleges.

There were Spring Interns who joined in Jan and were there for about 4 months then. They were already working on some cool stuff like some doing POC on machine learning to learn from financial documents to adding some features to existing critical trading systems.

Morgan Stanley has a schedule for interns wherein they have training that is used for the projects which are already assigned to us by our managers.

Project I worked on was an Innovation project wherein I had to do a POC on taking campus interviews in Paper less manner. This project was an Idea of my Manager who pitched it in the Morgan Stanley Innovation Program a while back and has raised some fundings internally.

I was given training on C# .Net Track, and some angular for UI (which I didn’t end up using more on this later). Since I was short on time for implementation my Manager and I decided not to learn Angular due to its steep learning curve.

And then the implementation began 💻. I used pure javascript for the frontend and bootstrap for css. I bet I haven’t written that much javascript in my entire life. Had picked up javascript advanced concepts like closures and event loop hacks from there. For backend it was plain old .Net MVC project with pdf storing functionality in backend.

Took me around 2 weeks to complete the project and had my final presentation with my team in New York. They liked the UI/UX of the application and the design language which was one my loose ends in Software Development but it was done well this time.

One thing of interning in big MNCs is you know how people are professional about their work. In the way they talk, dress and follow schedules.

I loved the campus where Morgan Stanley is. It is very eye-catching with beautiful fountains ⛲ and has a spacious working and walking environment. And if bored there is Hub Mall located just beside the campus for watching movies and enjoying some friday evening meal.

It happened to be that the Director of my team had a 10th year anniversary along with my farewell. We had a Team Lunch Buffet in Peshawari Grill Hub Mall which was amazing And some good luck wishes from my Manager and Team members.
